This is a beautifully articulated and hand painted large porcelain clam shell shaped box made in France by Limoges. The interesting size and shape would grace any coffee table, dresser or vanity. The palette is realistic, making it a very natural-looking accessory with the interior decorated in a mother-of-pearl finish and a an attached pearl inside.

The hinge, top and bottom are framed with gold finish brass mounts for an added elegant flair. ca. 1950's

The shell is one of the bigger examples measuring 4.25" tall x 6.5" wide and 6.25" from the hinge to the clasp. Overall excellent condition with flaws.
