Royal Worcester Hand Painted 17 pc Gilded Dessert Service for Asprey's

Royal Worcester Hand Painted 17 pc Gilded Dessert Service for Asprey's

This eye-popping dessert service was especially made for Asprey's, London in 1937, right in the middle of World War II. Imagine who might have owned this custom-ordered set! It consists of 12 dessert plates with hand painted centers, all artist signed accompanied by a tall footed compote, 2 low compotes, and 2 serving bowls. One of the plates is painted with fruits which may have been part of another set. The other 11 plates depict floral bouquets. The acid etched gold on the borders is in mint condition and creates a beautiful optical effect around the center painting. Even the back foot rims are gilded, which was only done on the finest plates!
