Not your ordinary set of fish or seafood plates, these 12 Bodley and Sons hexagonal plates were retailed exclusively by Richard Briggs, Boston, circa 1880. Truly unusual decoration, each of the six points are hand-painted with black enamel seaweed, highlighted in gold and gilded scallop shells. The shells are molded and sit in relief, all providing contrast with the white ground of the centers. Perfect for any fish or shellfish course but these would also be appropriate for salads, h'ors d'ouvres or desserts. A rare and unexpected addition to your table setting!

Made in England, overall excellent condition commensurate with age.
