12 Hand Colored Fish Plates W/ Water Lily Aesthetic Movement Borders

12 Hand Colored Fish Plates W/ Water Lily Aesthetic Movement Borders

This set of 12 charming fish plates with printed fish and hand colored polychrome enamel decoration was retailed by Ovington Brothers, New York ca. 1910. These were de-accessioned from a museum (Jones Museum?) and feature the most unusual and charming borders of water lilies surrounding the full underwater scenes. The fish are extremely well painted and fanciful and would be wonderful both as display and set on a summer table. The borders have an Arts and Crafts Aesthetic and the green and contrasting white lilies are bold and vibrant. Ca. 1910
