This 19th c. Brown, Westhead & Moore soup service in the "Burmese" pattern epitomizes the Aesthetic Movement motif at it's best. The soft blue ground is decorated with contrasting darker blue transfers of fan shaped reserves holding iconic images of Japonesque themes, including cranes, flowers, mountains, birds trees and bamboo etc. Each bowl is uniquely decorated with asymmetrical placement of the subjects, adding another interesting element.

The matching soup tureen combines all the motifs and makes this is perfect set for serving soup or any main course dish. BW& M was the 19th C. precursor of Cauldon Ltd., England.

Overall fine condition commensurate with age.
