This is one of the more beautiful sets of Doulton Burslem dessert plates I have seen. Each one is exquisitely hand painted in the Aesthetic Movement/Art Nouveau style of painting. The shaped rims frame the off-center floral subjects on a matte ivory ground and trimmed in softly applied "Florentine Gold" finish. Signed on the back with his initials, these were decorated by one of Doulton's master painters Walter Slater. Each plate depicts a different botanical subject subtly outlined in raised gold in a realistically depicted colors. These are true works of art and should be prominently displayed! Ca 1900, Excellent Condition!
