The ruby solid crystal of this exceptionally engraved vase provides the depth to allow for masterful engraving completely encircling the vase. The rich ruby overlay is cut to clear featuring a relaxed pipe smoking shepherd, accompanied by his dog as they watch over the group of grazing lambs. The decoration also includes the scenic landscape with a tall tree on the reverse. The blank is quite thick and heavy with a low, safe center of gravity. The top fits snugly in the body and this is an amazing piece for display. Made in Bohemia, Ca. 1890's excellent condition commensurate with age.
