Early 19th c. Vaseline Reactive Hand Blown & Cut Crystal Wine Rinser

Early 19th c. Vaseline Reactive Hand Blown & Cut Crystal Wine Rinser

A rare example of Vaseline reactive crystal in the shape of a large wine rinser. It is hand blown solid crystal with 14 oval pointed teardops on the base rising up to the middle border and then highlighted with 12 oval panels and flaring out slightly to create the 2 spouts which allowed for easy pouring from both sides. These were used to rinse wine goblets when there were fewer sizes and you used the same glass for different wines poured in sucession but used the same goblets in different courses. The rinser held cool water to rinse the goblet between courses. It is in amazing, excellent condition and very few wine rinsers were ever made in vaseline glass.  5.5 in diameter from spout to spout
