An exceptional example of Venetian glassblowing mastery, this large and impressive centerpiece made by Antonio Salviati is sure to impress! All hand blown elements are fused together to create this masterpiece; the quilted optic bowl and foot in a vibrant apple green, embellished with gold leaf inclusions is further decorated with whimsically applied figural dragons. The connector/stem is also decorated with gold leaf knop and encircling dragons. The detail and workmanship is outstanding and the not the least bit cartoon-ish. The dragons have realistically applied eyes and tongues and they create a dramatic contrast with their vibrant gold leaf inclusions. The bowl is finished off with applied prunts surrounding the circumference. This makes a fabulous centerpiece and an amazing addition to a themed display. Ca. 1900-1910
