What sets this apart is the fantastic contrast of raised paste gold and white enamels on the dark, rich cobalt blue ground. The quality and skill of the artist is immediately apparent and the flowers just pop in a striking and dramatic way, looking almost three-dimensional. The set is comprised of 10 dessert plates, 4 low foot compotes and 1 tall compote making a versatile and impressive display and of course perfectly gorgeous dessert plates. Made in England ca. 1880, the condition is excellent commensurate with age.
