This is a museum-quality early 19th c dessert service made by Darte Freres, ca.1810. Each plate is decorated with a hand painted center depicting named scenes in Italy, ie "Vue Romain", "Vue de Napoli", and "Vue de Rome" each bordered by a gold frame. The borders are a rich cobalt blue with gold swag and neoclassical floral decoration. The condition is incredible, especially for their age. The 12 dessert plates and two shallow oval serving bowls complete this set. The plates measure 8" in diameter and the oval bowls measure 7 1/4" x 10 1/4".
