This a very early 19th c. hand painted dessert service with shaped rims and apple green ground borders all highlighted in gold. The painting is rather primitive and simple which is in keeping with the period. The artists were not as well refined as the next decorative period, but they depicted the detailed landscapes that spoke to them. There are country scenes, maritime scenes and the "new" railroad which was a hugely popular subject. Further embellished with raised enamel jewels, this set was a show stopper in its day!
