This magnificent set of 12, 19th c. Royal Crown Derby service plates are fit for royalty with the subtle contrast of ivory and two colors of raised paste gold. Even the backs of the plates are gilded, as are the foot rims. Undoubtedly, this was a custom ordered service made for someone very special. The subtly shaped rims, star pattern with a central medallion and complex gold latticework add to the extraordinary craftsmanship.  ca. 1890
