Set 11 Doulton 19th C. Aesthetic Movement Cobalt Blue Dinner Plates w/ Poppie
This set of 11 dinner plates, made by Doulton Burslem, exemplify the overlapping decorative styles of the Aesthetic Movement and the Arts and Crafts Movement. They exhibit all the qualities of blue and white Japonesque transfer decoration combined with the clean lines and geometric placement of the Arts and Crafts stylized poppy flowers encircling the plates. The deep cobalt blue enamel gadroon borders are trimmed in gold to frame these unusual dinner plates. Excellent condition commensurate with age, Made in England, Ca. 1880's
