J Hall 19th c. "Quadrupeds" Blue & White Sauce Tureen, Stand & Ladle

J Hall 19th c. "Quadrupeds" Blue & White Sauce Tureen, Stand & Ladle

SOLD

United Kingdom 1802-1832 This extremely rare sauce tureen with matching stand was made by the J. Hall Company, by brothers John and Ralph Hall, primarily marketed for the North American trade. They produced the "Quadrupeds" pattern from 1802 through 1832. Defined as "mammal with four feet" the "quadrupeds" have the deep rich blue color associated with this period and pattern. Incredibly, the four pieces making up this grouping have all survived intact, making this an even more rare collector's piece. Put together with the 2 platters I have listed, and you have a museum quality collection. The featured animal on the tureen is a fox, accompanied by a crowing rooster. The matching ladle and under plate complete the picture, all capped with a rose finial! The tureen measures 7" handle to handle, 5" wide. The under plate is 8" across and 6.50" wide. Excellent condition.
